WalMart is the devil. [19 Oct 2007|10:25pm]

I got my blue zebra cichlid from a WalMart that took great care of its fish and still does. But I went to another WalMart yesterday...the conditions were HORRIBLE. I didn't have time to bitch at them yesterday, so I'm going back to complain and hope they do something. The African cichlids had to be in the worst condition. None dead YET, but they were dying, no doubt.

No more fish at local Walmart [05 Jul 2006|02:25pm]

I was in Walmart today and this particular store is no longer selling fish. The entire fish department is empty and abandoned. Three cheers! Hopefully this will be a change through the entire company, not just this one store. Here's hoping!

What is walmart's return policy on items with no reciept? i have about $900 of items and don't have a reciept. It is actual stuff I really bought, but I am in the need of cash and have to return this stuff. If you really want to know I need to pay for a new septic system. It sucks, I am so broke I can't even afford to take a shit. Literally. Thanks.

Buy the way, what the hell is 1-800-WALMART

An example of how bad the Wal Mart fish are... [09 Jul 2005|10:44pm]

[ mood | amused ]

A friend and I used to like to terrorize the local Wal Mart while we were in high school. One time we got fish, put them in bags, and dropped them off in random areas of the store, i.e. the frozen food section, lingerie, etc,
We also had a "fish fight" one day, picking up fish and flinging them at each other straight out of the aquarium because the pet area was unsupervised.
It was hella fun, but that's besides the point.

I went to PetSmart today to get a betta.

They're fish selection is horrible. All the betta's are discolored and sick looking. Their fins are torn. Most of the water is yellow.

Then I look at the other fish. Some of the tanks are cloudy. Some are full of fecal matter. Some were dead.

Is there anyone I can complain about this to?

But get this. I went to WalMart. They were all actually really healthy looking. None were dead, the water was clear, and all the tanks were clean. Plus, they had quite a selection of fish, and they were all so beautiful. I expected this to be vice versa.

how about [27 Apr 2005|06:41pm]

hi im Ed, i work at walmart, i dont work in the fish department but i go see the fish alot, i usually go spend some of my lunch time there, it just seems to relax me. I havent seen any dead fish in there in a while, our pet department is kept reall clean specially the fish tanks, i wish that every store would take care of the department just like in my store.
instead of fighting a big company like this, which is really stupid if you ask me, why not contact the store, maybe even home office, let them know that you are not satisfied, i think the company would rather spend money on new training and more associates, than to loose a big part of a department.
believe me i've been workiing for this company for a few years, and when home office hears bad things about something, they are right on top of, i'm telling you this from experience.

1-800-walmart is just a phone call away

new super center [19 Mar 2005|09:49pm]

So they are building this ginormous new Wal*mart super center like 2 miles from my house and when it opens I bet their fish department is going to be pretty nice.

...for a few weeks anyway.

I still hate walmart, but it'll be nice to have one so close to my house cause I'm poor. Woo south Austin.

new fishes [23 Feb 2005|02:09pm]

[ mood | recumbent ]

So I bought 3 fishes today at Wal-Mart. I bought 2 orandas and one goldfish I only bought the goldfish because he got in a fight and his lips are missing so his mouth reminds me of a shark so I named him Jaws. LOL. I name my red and white oranda Brain and the solid orange I haven't name him yet and of course I have pics!Collapse )

It's sad at Wal-Mart the bottom tank has all the big fishes and I guess they have been fighting because some were just like my Jaws but had parts of their tails missing and such. I asked the lady if they had been fighting she said she doesn't know.

Christmas [28 Dec 2004|08:20am]

unlike alot of other wal*marts, the one i work at has a very sanitary fish dept.

SO i bought my boyfreind one of those nice little black sharks for x-mas.

It died the next day. True story.

so before i clocked in, i took it to customer service, where i (with my dead shark norbert)

explained how i had just bought it the night before, and they refunded my money.

I didnt know our return policy on fish. But at least we have one.

walmart should stop selling fish. [25 Dec 2004|08:46pm]

i went to walmart the other day with a friend, looking for a DVD, though both of us HATE walmart (because of the horrible fish conditions). we went to see the fish department, and to see what conditions they were in. we didn't plan on complaining, cause nothing will be done, but we did not expect to see such shitty conditions that day:

picturesCollapse )

we found a manager, and took her to the department, and she seemed to understand why we pulled her over there, without having to say a word. she yelled at the employee who was supposed to be taking care of the fish, and which she replied, "i cleaned them 2 days ago on tuesday!"... wendy and i had left, when the manager said "she would take care of it", but we circled around to the next aisle and listened in. pshhh, whatever, the employee possibly couldn't have cleaned it TWO DAYS AGO. there is no way there would be SO MUCH FUCKING ALGAE if she had just cleaned it. bullshit. we planned on going back later that night to see if anything had been changed, but we didnt get the chance.

walmart sucks.
boycott walmart...!

On a recent trip to a wal mart in rochester, ny, I spotted something truly disheartening. Dead fish. Yeah, you want to know where they were? Nope, not in tanks in a main area of a store. in little cups in the back of the store, about 6 shelves up. They were awfully close to the gardening supplies. All of them were dead, and there was about 30. Okay, who do you think will buy the fish? Younger children you would think, so why put them up above their eye level where no one can see them except the taller, older, ignorant type people who shop at a wal-mart. It makes me upset that these poor little creatures couldn't even have a tank with proper care. Stuck in little cups, hmph.

field trip. [03 Dec 2004|09:22pm]

[ mood | angry ]

Oh em gee...Collapse )
This is x..x, No?

I think you'll want to look at these...Collapse )

Sorry about the quality of some of them... It's not easy to take pictures when the store is so crowded. The tanks were not as bad as they have been tonight, and I think the sign taped up next to the bettas says enough, though.

Wal-Mart is evil.

Wal-Mart really pisses me off... [30 Nov 2004|09:05pm]

[ mood | pissed off ]

Well, I was bored and looking up anti-Wal-Mart sites because I'm getting to the point that I can't stand the place anymore. I thought I was the only one who cared about the fish there and when I saw this community I couldn't believe it! *lol* As a person who's grown up with fish and has always had them, I think it's disgusting how they treat them at Wal-Mart. I guess because they're not warm and furry they don't need to be treated well, right? Well, I think that's wrong! No living creature should be treated the way they treat their fish. In fact, I think Wal-Mart should have the entire fish section shut down. They don't need to be selling fish if they're not willing to take care of them. My parents actually remember that happening a long time ago at Montgomery Ward's when they used to sell pets. They didn't take care of them and eventually they were told they were no longer allowed to sell animals. When I go to that section, I literally get sick. Well, enough ranting. I'm just glad to know I'm not alone...

Has anyone seen the new Wal*Mart commerical advertising gift cards???

It showed people with all kinds of stuff, and then a little boy with a fish in a plastic bag.

This is why I hate Wal MartCollapse )</p>

I think if there is not going to be someone in the pet section to clean those tanks at least twice a week and clean out the dead fish everynight and do water tests then they should not sell fish at all.

last night [20 Nov 2004|09:36am]

I went to walmart with a friend. The conditions were very sad. We saw 6 dead fish. And there were no employees anywhere in sight. That's no good.

Hi. Let's see where this thing goes.

I'm going to go to Walmart... take some pictures of the tanks... harass a few employees and then write a paper on it. I'll post any pictures I take here, in this community. I plan on going to 2 or 3 Walmarts in the Austin, Texas area. It should be pretty interesting.

the end.
